About the Lab

We are interested in evolutionary ecology, in other words, why organisms do the things that they do. Most of our work focuses on fish reproduction and parental care, though we are interested in all aspects of evolutionary ecology.

Our lab is located on the campus of California State University, Sacramento. We have over 100 tanks in our lab which house the fish that we research! The fish in our lab are from all over the world. Much of the research conducted in our lab is based on fishes from the family Cichlidae, commonly referred to as Cichlids. This is a diverse group of fish with roughly 2,000 species.
